The new joint headquarters for the local Ku-ring-gai Bush Fire Brigade and State Emergency Services officially opened at a special launch event that was held at North Wahroonga’s Golden Jubilee Field, on Saturday May 25, 2013.
Premier of NSW, Barry O’Farrell, Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service, Shane Fitzsimmons and Commissioner of the NSW State Emergency Service, Murray Kear, Paul Fletcher MP and Elaine Malicki, Ku-ring-gai Mayor were among the special guests to celebrate the opening of the new HeroHQ. Also in attendance were other local federal, state and council members, along with members of the SES and RFS and the general community.
Funding for the $3.6 million state of the-art-facility was provided by Ku-ring-gai Council, the SES and RFS. Ku-ring-gai Financial Services Limited matched each public donation, dollar for dollar up to $100,000 to secure the $200,000 total needed to undertake the internal fit-out.
