How to be a Director
A Community Bank® branch is operated by a locally owned company, which functions as a franchise of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and the Community Bank® company are each entitled to agreed portions of the revenue of the local Community Bank® branch and the local company is responsible for paying branch running costs. The Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank® branches are operated by Ku-ring-gai Financial Services Limited, an unlisted public company which was formed in 2002. Our Constitution provides that the company may have up to 10 directors and we are always keen to talk to people who may be interested in contributing to their community by becoming involved in their Community Bank® company.
Like all public company directors, our Board is responsible for the operation of the company and directors are subject to a range of duties to the company (and shareholders), including honesty, loyalty, care and diligence. The day to day management of the branch is carried out by the branch manager.
While your responsibilities as a Community Bank® company director are the same as a Director of any public company, you will be involved in a movement that delivers real and tangible results to your community. On a more personal level, the role of a community director can be a fulfilling and rewarding one, taking you on a journey of personal growth and development.
